The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS)—which was developed by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) created by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB—is an extensive set of technical and operational standards that a company needs to follow to ensure that all companies that process, store, or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment.

Due to the high demand for Pre-Existing Condition coverage, the underwriters have extended the coverage provided under many of the plans to allow for coverage under very specific circumstances. They call this coverage either 'Acute Onset of Pre-Existing Conditions' or 'Sudden and Unexpected Recurrence of Pre-Existing Conditions'. There are plans that provide some kind of further limited coverage of pre-existing condition coverage. Please carefully understand what a chosen plan incudes.

Covers up to policy maximum for acute onset of pre-existing conditions for persons below age 70.
Covers up to $20,000 for acute onset of pre-existing conditions for persons below age 65 and up to $10,000 for 65-69.
Covers up to $150,000 for policy maximums of $550,000 and over for acute onset of pre-existing conditions for persons below age 70, and $50,000 for all other policy maximums for persons below age 70.
Covers up to the policy maximum for acute onset of pre-existing conditions for persons below age 80.
Covers pre-existing conditions up to $25,000 for ages up to 69 and up to $20,000 for ages 70 and older.
Covers up to $1,000,000 for acute onset of pre-existing conditions for U.S. Citizens below age 65 with a Primary Health Plan; $20,000 without. Ages 65-69: $2,500 maximum. Non-US Citizens: Ages 69 and younger up to $1,000,000.
Covers up to $1,000 for the sudden and unexpected recurrence of a pre-existing condition for persons below age 70.

Covers up to policy maximum for persons below age 70, up to $25,000 for 70-79 years, $15,000 for 80+. Subject to further sub-limits, as described in coverage details.
